Africa Tourism Leadership Forum

October 24 8:00 am – October 25 5:00 pm SAST

The 5th and 2022 Africa Tourism Leadership Forum will pay particular attention to facilitating conversations and partnerships with the main objective of encouraging intra-Africa travel through intra-Africa trade, partnerships, and investments. ATLF 2022 will host Africa’s tourism private sector apex bodies for a roundtable discussion. This will be attended by leaders and experts of various National Tourism Organizations and key stakeholders in the travel, tourism, and related industries. This calls for all stakeholders in the industry to meet in Gaborone; connect, communicate and share experiences and ideas on how to travel by Africans and for Africans may be packaged in a way that is affordable, enticing, and remains authentic to the culture and traditions of the travel destination.

The core of African travel is the travel itself, moving from one country, province, or city to the next. When driving African travel and tourism it is important that the Aviation industry sits at the table as a result. Africa’s Travel, Tourism and Aviation CEO’s & Executives Forum taking place on the margins of ATLF and awards will provide professional insights on the role of digitalization and technological innovation in driving domestic and regional tourist arrivals and revenues in Africa. Additionally, the Ministerial talk will focus on ensuring affordable regional air connectivity by advocating for African counties to unblock dialogue.

Africa Airforce Forum

October 26 8:00 am – October 27 5:00 pm SAST

Evolving security challenges across Africa have precipitated the necessity for regional Air Forces to enhance air operations to counter asymmetrical threats. To effectively empower air-defence components, it is essential for the entire aerospace community to cooperatively advance tactics, training and MRO supply-chain management to improve response to regional conflicts.

To support this, the inaugural Africa Airforce Forum hosted by the Senegal Air Force in Dakar 26-27 October 2022 will feature bespoke networking exercises and interactive platforms for the region’s Air Force leadership and global solution providers to enhance collaborative approaches to combat regional security challenges. The Air Force Africa Forum will address the evolving role of Africa’s air force, new requirements, counter terrorism, and counter insurgency efforts.

WHY SENEGAL?
Senegal’s Air Force is currently enhancing their fleet capabilities to support regional counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations. In addition to the transnational conflicts, Senegal will begin oil exploration in 2023 and will require extensive air support to safeguard the new offshore oil and gas assets. Due to this, the Air Force Africa Forum will reveal the Air Forces commitment to regional security through shortlisting of suppliers and providing an essential platform for Africa’s aerospace community to convene to progress coordination.

AHBS VII – The Role Of The Private Sector In Advancing Men’s Health In Africa

November 24 8:00 am – 5:00 pm SAST

To focus on the advancement of health indicators in Africa, governments must prioritise both women’s and men’s health. The public sector has the legal mandate to provide stewardship, guidance, and coordination, to create an enabling environment for the implementation of health systems strengthening activities that are focused on women’s and men’s health. Nevertheless, there is a  significant role to play for the private sector as a multisectoral approach is imperative to improve the health of women and men on the continent. The 24th November #AHBS2022 event ‘The role of the private sector in advancing men’s health in Africa’ will feature discussions that will put a spotlight on men’s health in Africa.

The effort to improve health must focus on the health needs of both sexes and adjust to the differences between them. Attention to men’s health for example will be particularly important in tackling the global epidemic of non-communicable diseases, which are likely to affect more men than women and to affect men at a younger age.

AHBS VII on 24th November will be a full-day highly interactive hybrid event, in Nairobi, allowing both in-person and virtual participation, welcoming eminent health experts, business leaders, government officials, and development partners to discuss, share information and provide lessons learned on key areas that affect men’s health in Africa.
